Music is one of those addictions that will cause me to rationalize over-spending. For example, let's say I have $50 in my pocket, not a lot of food in the cupboard and fridge, and my car is running on fumes. What do I do? Well, a normal person would probably buy food and gas first, but no, not me. Nooooooo. I will undoubtedly buy as many CDs as I can for the $50, buy a case of ramen, and then put the remaining few dollars into gas. So by the end of the week, I'm typically hungry and I can't drive anywhere, but at least I have my music.
Ok, ok, I'm not quite this bad anymore. I sure used to be, but I suppose I have tempered things a bit since I moved to Alabama. Then again, I've done that out of necessity, not because I've vowed to curtail my spending! Truth be told, however, I'm finding much less music these days that moves me in any way. I can't stand 99% of music on the radio, and besides, when I'm listening to the radio, it's talk radio all the way. I'm a talk radio junkie. Even if I wasn't, there still isn't much worth listening to on today's radio stations. Lady Gaga...are you serious? This "artist" is purely about image and not the music. I find it difficult to believe that anyone would even remotely care about her if it wasn't for her "outrageous" costumes. Come on, people! Are you that stupid that you can't see through facades like that?
And then there's American Idol...ok, forget about this one. I don't feel like writing anything else, and to comment on American Idol would require a lengthy dissertation to fully voice my disapproval of such mindless drivel.
